The Scope of the Association
Our Association is permanently concerned with the moral, educational, material and financial support of poor and sick children, grown ups and elderly persons in Vatra Dornei and the neighbouring places. There are two options in taking care and treating the persons in need, regardless of age, sex or religion, such as follows:
1. All the above-mentioned who do not have a shelter are being looked after and treated in the asylum of the Ciocanesti – Bucovina Foundation, in Vatra Dornei, located within the Saint Dimitrie Monastery, with the support of the
“LET’S GROW OLD GRACEFULLY“ - Bucovina Association.
2. All the above-mentioned individuals who have a home, but are very poor, sick or abandoned, are offered assistance through our Association by the Centre for elderly persons and children in distress.
3. The foundation of the Angela mountaineering club aims at education, turism and entertainment.
4. Cooperation with other humanitarian associations and foundations throughout the country.
Our values
- Compassion/Care – we are community oriented, primarily towards those individuals who don’t have a home or the risk of losing their home is imminent;
- Acceptance/Respect for the others – we take people as they are and we respect the personal diffenrences according to each individual’s characteristics and needs;
- Assigning responsibilities/Understanding – we are responsible of what is going on in our own community and how the things that are going on are affecting its members;
- Meet the primary needs – we believe that all human beings are socially equal and every person, despite the individual circumstances, must meet their primary needs, such as: food, shelter and safety;
- Act to make a difference/Services – we shall act in such a manner as to make our community a better place for the individuals who don’t have a home or those for whom the risk to lose their home is imminent;
- Excelence, equality and potential – our aim is to offer special services and creative solutions that should meet the constantly changing needs of the individuals who don’t have a home.
We believe that by an efficient support of the individuals who don’t have a shelter, in order to achieve their potential, not only the ability to offer specific shelter and support is important, but also the ability to encourage those individuals to make their own choices, to make a difference in the structures and to take over the control of their own lives.
The Association “LET’S GROW OLD GRACEFULLY“ - Bucovina is a non-governmental association, founded on christian principles, and the driving forces for our actions are christian compassion for our human fellows who find themselves in need, all around us.
Our actions are humanitarian and they are performed in constant cooperation with several humanitarian organisations in the country and abroad.
Our beneficiaries are individuals who find themselves in material, spiritual and emotional needs (sick children, orphans, poor students, widows, sick adults, elderly persons, poor peoples etc) and communitary non-profit organisations that arre helping perople (hospitals, schools, nurseries, hospices and homes, orphanages, penitentiaries, churches, foundations).
Currently we aer in contact with 105 families and many organisations, and our activity is performed by the work of some 37 volunteers (nurses, doctors, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, spiritual advisors, retired persons, students)
The driving force of this activity is the christian compassion for a fellow human burdened with their difficulties, needs and sufferings they are going through. We want to be a helping hand for them, a heart that is open and understanding, as well as a good advice that helps, in order to be again part of the family and of society.
For the future, we ar looking forward to improve the quality of our work, by imporving efficiency, and seeking guidance from our Lord so that we may achieve a better understanding of the felow’s heart burdened by the needs of life.
