Home for elderly persons - Vatra Dornei
The home for elderly persons is located in Vatra Dornei, within the Saint Dimitrie Monastery. This home consists of 17 rooms, 33 beds, medical facility, kitchen facility, refectory and bathroom and toilet. There are 33 sick persons accommodated, 13 of which are suffering from chronic diseases and can not move, 2 blind persons, and the other 18 are suffering from paresis, strokes, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart diseases. Note should be made that half of them are unable to move and are restricted to a life in bed.
The persons in need who are accommodated, treated and cared for in here suffer from not getting the necessary treatment, as there is a lack of the necessary medicine they urgently need. Besides medicine, they also need other goods, such as: food, sanitary single-use items, bed linen, underclothes, slippers, chemicals and cleaning agents. Also, the medical personnel assisting the sick in this home is scarce, as there is only one nurse employed on full-time basis, and a volunteer GP providing 4 hours per week for seeing the 33 persons seriously sick.
Thus we are in great need of medical staff and equipment for the reatment and care of these persons, but due to the lack of funds we are unable to provide medical assistance to these sick poor persons. That is the reason why we make an appeal to the kindness of the generous people everywhere to give us a helping hand.
